Introducing Lyons Construction new Operations Manager, Simon Taylor

We’d love to introduce (or re-introduce) Simon Taylor as the new Operations Manager at Lyons Construction. Stepping into the role internally from a Senior Contracts Management position, we’re thrilled to have Simon jumping into the Operations Manager full of experience and existing knowledge of Lyons Construction’s clients and projects.

Starting his career as a carpenter, Simon made the move to work in Construction Management with Deakin University before moving to Lyons Construction in 2017. Here, he has worked on a number of award winning projects as a Senior Contracts Manager, including the Highton Child and Family Centre, Sacred Heart College – The Court Precinct and the Point Lonsdale Surf Lifesaving Club. The team, the architectural design, his experience as a carpenter and therefore his love of timber made the Point Lonsdale Surf Lifesaving Club his favourite project to date.

When asked about his promotion, Simon referred to Gary Iacono’s legacy at Lyons Construction and how he is hoping to build on what Gary has achieved throughout his long tenure at Lyons.

“I’ve got some really big shoes to fill with Gary Iacono retiring after 46 years. He has been a cornerstone of the Geelong commercial construction market, he has taught me a huge amount during my time at Lyons Construction and I’m really excited to build upon what he has done for so long, Simon says.

I’m really excited to be joining the leadership team at Lyons. We have a really enthusiastic and innovative team at the moment and I’m really looking forward to leading them to 100 years and beyond for Lyons Construction. I love working with the respective teams to resolve any details and work through the problems that every building has. It’s really rewarding to be able to build buildings in the community that we can go back and use with our family and friends.”

Steve Lyons, Managing Director is looking forward to working closely with Simon as he takes up this new role.

“Simon is driven, pragmatic, well-organised and has already built strong connections in the building industry. I look forward to working together for continual improvement of the company and building a strong community for Geelong and the greater region.”

We’d love to congratulate Simon and wish him all the best in his new role. Here’s to 100 years and beyond!
