Digging Deep for the Feed Geelong Appeal

The Geelong region, like many communities worldwide, has witnessed a staggering increase in the demand for food relief in recent years. According to the Geelong Food Relief Centre, the demand for food assistance has surged by a jaw-dropping 239 per cent. The implications of this statistic are far-reaching, highlighting the pressing need for collective action to address food security issues within our community.

Coinciding with World Food Day, the Give Where You Live Foundation has been running the Feed Geelong Appeal, an annual campaign designed to bring awareness to the critical issue of food security in our region. The primary objective of this initiative is to raise vital funds to support the food relief sector throughout the Geelong area, ensuring that everyone can put food on their table.

On Friday 20 October, Lyons Construction and the crew working at The Geelong College proudly rallied together to support this important local cause. Our collective efforts resulted in a generous donation of $2,115.36!

We’d like to extend our thanks to other local businesses who helped us achieve this. The generous team at Construct Personnel provided a delicious BBQ lunch, and several businesses in the Geelong region kindly contributed raffle prizes to further bolster the fundraising efforts. These businesses included Austin’s Wines, BWS, Novotel Geelong, Rip Curl and the Geelong Football Club.

If you missed the opportunity to donate during the fundraising event, you can still make a difference. To contribute to the Feed Geelong Appeal, visit the link here. Every dollar counts and can help in the fight against hunger.
