Lyons Construction is thrilled to announce our massive success at the Master Builders Regional Building Awards, where we took out not one, not two, but three major awards and a special commendation.
Our first win of the night came in the form of a Special Commendation in the Construction of Commercial Buildings $1M – $3M for the Audi Centre.
This award was swiftly followed by our win in the $3M – $6M category for the Waurn Ponds Library & Community Hub designed by Whitefield McQueen Irwin Alsop for the City of Greater Geelong. A huge thank you to all those involved in making this project a success. Specifically, we’d like to extend our immense thanks and congratulations to David Bauzon (Contracts Manager) and Greg Hunt (Site Manager).
The New Generation Library at Deakin University won the award for Excellence in Construction- Commercial Buildings $3M – $6M. This three-storey refurbishment, designed by Six Degrees, features the innovative use of raw and recycled materials – including the repurposing of 30,000 disused library books to create an eye-catching feature wall. Paul Elliot (Contracts Manager) and Chris Dwyer (Site Manager) did a brilliant job executing all stages of this project while ensuring the library was functional and accessible for students throughout the entire build.
Our final and biggest win of the night saw us take home the trophy for Commercial Builder of the Year – South West Region. After winning this same award last year, we are thrilled to be recognised in this way once again.
We’d like to say a huge thank you and congratulations to everyone involved in these projects – our team of superb subcontractors, our wonderful clients and architect, and our internal team.
