The City of Greater Geelong and the local branch of the National Trust hosted the annual Heritage awards night on Wednesday 8 May 2019.
Two projects Lyons Construction has been involved in were recognised in the awards.
Geelong Covent Garden, 174 Moorabool St, GeelongĀ
Owners: The Anthony Costa Foundation
For: Restoration of a Heritage Place, New Work to a Heritage Place and Re-Creative Reuse of A Heritage Place.
The birthplace of the Costa family business was re-acquired by the Costa Group in 2015 and has been converted into the company’s administration offices. The restoration of the front facade through chemical method paint removal, mortar repair and the reconstruction of the post supported cast iron veranda has produced an extraordinary outcome.
Portalington Primary School, 100 Newcombe St, Portalington
Owners: Portalington Primary School
For: Restoration of a Heritage Place and Interpretation of a Heritage Place.
Opened in 1882, the old Portalington State School was typical of one-room state school buildings of the time. As part of a wider recent redevelopment of the school it was restored with a new paint scheme based on historical precedents.
Lyons Construction wishes to thank the whole team including subcontractors and suppliers who worked on both of these projects.
Special mention of Simon Taylor for his Project Management of Covent Garden and Adrian Dore for his Site Management of Portalington Primary School. Another great outcome for the Company and the community.
