With sports and the Olympics high on people’s mind, it is with great pleasure that we announce the completion of The Geelong College Belerren Sports and Wellbeing Centre (Belerren meaning ‘to shine’ in the Wadawurrung language). As one of the largest projects Lyons Construction has taken on, it has taken an extraordinary effort by all involved to create this world-class sporting facility.
The Centre encompasses a double court gymnasium, event spaces, first class training facilities and classrooms, while seamlessly integrated into the surrounding historic buildings within The Geelong College. This incredible space will be used as a community hub supporting the next cohort of students and community members in seeking to achieve their own athletic pursuits.
Late last week Lyons Construction was honoured to celebrate the official opening of the Belerren Sports and Wellbeing Centre by the Governor of Victoria, Her Excellency, The Honourable Margaret Gardner AC.
Thank you to both The Geelong College and Wardle Architects for their support throughout this journey to create this incredible feat of design and construction.
Lyons Construction would like to acknowledge the efforts of all who contributed to the build including our amazing Sub-Contractors, and most notably, our own Site Managers Bernie Henry and Matt Morris, who alongside Tom Barber (Labourer) and Contract Managers, David Bauzon and Luke Ross, managed the construction flawlessly.
We congratulate The Geelong College and its community on the official opening of the Belerren Centre and look forward to seeing the achievements from those who use it.
