We are proud supporters of the Give Where You Live Foundation so when we see incredible organisations like MacKillop Family Services being awarded grants for their program ‘Step:Bike‘.
Our Managing Director, Steve Lyons met with the team from Step:Bike and was amazed at this innovative program. Opening the doors to many disadvantaged and at-risk young people living in Out of Home Care in the Geelong region, providing them the opportunity to learn how to repair and restore secondhand bicycles.
In the three years this program has been running, over 80 bicycles have been refurbished by young people who had no previous experience of using tools, changing wheels, checking brakes or safe cycling.
Step:Bike has given them a sense of achievement and opened the door to future employment opportunities. We applaud the work of the individuals involved in the program and Give Where You Live for raising funds to support programs such as this.
