70 years with Commonwealth Bank

Not many businesses thrive for 90 years and even fewer can lay claim to having been with the same bank for over 70 years.

Cousins, Steve Lyons and Christine Lyons, representing the third generation of Lyons family members working in the family business, Lyons Construction, were recently, very honoured, to accept a certificate from the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) for both achievements on behalf of the company.

Darryl Mohr, General Manager, Regional and Agribusiness Banking VIC/TAS made the presentation at a dinner held on Tuesday 16 July.

The dinner, sponsored by the CBA, was an opportunity for local business owners to meet with Darryl, Grant Cairns, Executive General Manager, Regional and Agribusiness Banking and Geelong based CBA staff. Grant provided an overview of current opportunities and challenges for regional businesses and support available from the CBA.

The evening was a great opportunity for local business owners, from a diverse range of backgrounds, to come together to share their experiences.

Steve remarked, upon accepting the certificate, that “one of the strengths of Lyons Construction has been the strong partnerships that have been forged over many years with other local businesses.”

Not only has this been important for our business to gain and maintain a competitive edge but the company has also supported many local subcontractor and suppliers’ businesses to also thrive. This has allowed us to achieve our goal of building a vibrant, successful and strong community. Something that we have been achieving since 1929.

Steve concluded by thanking Ian Leuhman who has provided Lyons Construction with his expertise and support over the last seven years.

We look forward to continuing to work with Ian, and the CBA team, as we head toward our centenary in business.
