The Katsumata Centre at Kardinia International College was created as a tribute to the founder of the school, Mr Yoshimaro Katsumata. A multipurpose space the building can be transformed, using an automated retractable seating system, from a sporting facility into a 1200 seat performing arts theatre. Externally metallic alucobond panelling changes colour as light reflects from its many angles and internally inverted truss and sawtooth structural systems allows for large spans which maximise natural light, facilitate optimal acoustics and allow for the concealment of HVAC services.
