Geelong Business Excellence Awards 2018

Lyons Construction was the proud sponsor of the Medium to Large Business Award at the 2018 Geelong Business Excellence Awards and Norm Lyons took much pleasure in presenting the award to genU’s chief executive officer, Mike McKinstry.

In accepting the award Mike acknowledged the long history of genU’s two foundation organisations, Karingal and St Lawrence, and the tremendous growth and process of change that the organisation has gone through in the past few years.

genU currently has nearly 3000 staff operating from over 200 locations throughout Australia. genU provides a range of services for all ages including accommodation, employment and recreation services for individuals with disability, a mental health support service, and a training service for the community services sector.

Mike stressed the award was only possible due to the commitment of the whole team at genU to strive for excellence.

Lyons Construction wishes to congratulate each member of the genU team for the outstanding work that they do in creating and delivering innovative services and supports that empower the people they work with to reach their full potential.

Despite delivering completely different services Lyons Construction and genU have a number of synergies; we are both companies with a long history of working in the Geelong region and who have made a strong commitment to add value to our community.

For information about the amazing range of services genU provide, the genU business enterprises such as the Botanic Cafe on the Lake and the Geelong Community Nursery and how you can be involved with genU through donating and/or volunteering please visit the genU website.

A special mention of the genU video Jeremy the Dud. It has a very powerful message about inclusion of people with disability into society and the workforce.
